Which Digital SLR Camera is better?

I want to get into photography professionally and i just don’t know which camera to choose. I am torn between the canon eos 550d/rebel t2i and the canon eos 50d. I am going for canon because they seem like the best plus they have plenty of lenses. Also will it make a difference if i buy my camera from America because they are both cheaper on amazon.com then they are on amazon.co.uk, and does it make a difference that the first camera is called the eos 550d in the uk and the rebel t2i in America? They are the same camera right? I will be so grateful for any help you can give me!
Thank you for your answer it does help. i read that the eos 50d was more like a semi professional camera, is it more so than the 550d? is there much difference in the picture quality because if the 50d produces better pictures than i wouldn’t mind not having a movie mode? i live in england but i don’t think amazon charge customs.

If you buy on Amazon.com and deliver to UK then you will pay Customs Duty. For small items it costs more to collect than the duty is worth and the duty is usually waived but on an item like a digital SLR the duty will be charged.

Hi im sixteen years old and I wanted to know what are some things i should keep in mind when purchasing a digital slr?? like i dont know much "camera lingo" so i dont know what to look for, i wanted to use a camera for Photography, fun with friends, and a modeling/makeup portfolio. i waas thinking maybe the nikon d90 or the d3000 but i dont know. lol and someone also told me canon was better so then i started thinking about the canon Eos 50d. helo would be appreciated alot!!!

If you can afford the D90 or 50D, then I would recommend the Canon T2i because it will do everything you are looking for and has the best video recording fo any DSLR. If it was just strictly photography, then I would recommend the Nikon D5000 (or the more expensive D90) as your first DSLR.

Personally, for "the bang for the buck" in terms of features, image quality, and build quality, I would get the Nikon D90. It is a fantastic camera with features rivaling the D300 and with the same image quality. The only real advantage the D300’s have over the D90 is that if you want to use older Nikon AI and AI-s lenses they will meter on the D300 and not on the D90. The D90 has a video feature (not that great), but a true photographer could care less about this feature and would gladly trade the video for some other useful features on the camera.

If you are on a tighter budget, then the D5000 will do because it uses the same 12MP CMOS sensor from the D90 and D300. What you lose with the D5000 are of course some features, a 2.7" Swivel LCD (230,000 pixel) vs. 3.0" LCD (920,000 pixel), Pentamirror viewfinder vs. Pentaprism, no top status display for the D5000, and no autofocus using older AF & AF-D lenses on the D5000 (the D90 & D300’s have an additional autofocus motor built into the body). If you are not familiar with some of the terms, then wikipedia is a great resource.

If you are not aware, one of the most important aspects of the camera is the sensor size. Most point and shoot cameras have tiny sensors (1/2.5") and the DSLR’s have much larger sensors. The two main catagories are full frame (like the original 35mm film) and APS-C or DX for Nikon (like the old 24mm APS film format). Larger the sensor size, the more light it will capture thus provided higher quality images.

Whats a good digital camera for starting a photography business?

I’m wanting to start my own photography business. I start taking classes in about 5 months and I want to purchase a good camera before I begin. My price range is cheaper than $2,500.00 but can be up to that amount. I would really like to hear from photographers who are experienced and can give me good advise. I’ve been thinking about getting the Canon EOS 50D Black 15.1 MP Digital SLR. Is this a good camera? any specific Lens anyone recommends to go with it? Any help I can get I will much appreciate.

I’m planning on getting a Canon EOS 50D in the near future.

Here are a few of the differences:
- One is an L lens, one is not
- L version has IS (image stabilization)
- L version has slightly better build quality

If you’re deciding which one you should get, buy the non-L version. Why? It’s half the price but is just as sharp as the L version. In my opinion the L version isn’t much of an improvement in terms of image quality. And although it features hybrid image stabilization, you probably won’t need it much unless you’re going to shoot portraits. But of course, purchasing a sturdy tripod can compensate for IS.

Which DSLR Camera to buy?

There are so many digital SLR cameras these days, and my options are overwhelming. Right now I’m looking at a Nikon D90 or Canon EOS 50D. I’ve read specs and reviews on them. Anybody have any opinions on these cameras? or maybe another camera you would recommend?

Between those two it’s Nikon’s D90 and here’s why. The Nikon sensor scores so much higher than the Canon, so the images will be cleaner at high ISO and in low light. The Nikon shoots video too. Each has lots of bells and whistles, but in the end they don’t matter that much, I’m all about the image quality. I’m not in either camp by the way, I shoot with a Sony Alpha A700 dSLR.

What does the "0.20X" mean in the description of a fisheye lens? 10 POINTS BEST ANSWER!!?

I am looking at buying a cheap fisheye lens adapter to take skiing with me and realized that in the description of the lens it states "0.20X Professional Super AF…" I have no idea what the .20X means. Does it only pertain to fisheye lenses? put the X on the other side… x 0.2, and put your lens in front of it.. 18mm x0.2, and your answer is 3.6mm. The adapter will multiply the focal length of the lens you put it on by 0.2.

The 1st post has it backwards, a larger number does not increase the effect, just the opposite.
