How do I get a sharp picture with my Canon EOS 50D?

Monday Mar 29, 2010

Every time I take a pic with the full auto option, my picture becomes slightly unsharp. I do not want to adjust the shutter speed for every single picture. How do I get a very sharp picture every time I take a picture? (and yes….I do keep my hand still :-) )

Thanks

One question: why did you get a dSLR if you intend on using it in full-automatic mode ?

You really do need to learn to select focus points and shutter speed. Selecting one shutter speed for all instances does NOT work. For example 1/90 might be OK for portraits, but it will not work if you are shooting sports. Then you will need at least 1/250th, but 1/1000th is better. Next, you will need to understand ISO and how to set it according to the environment in which you are shooting while also considering how this will impact the noise and grain of your pictures. What you really need is to understand the concept of "exposure" as a balance between ISO, shutter speed and aperture.

You want better pics ? instead of asking for a one-size-fits-all advice on Y!A, register for a photo course. If you don’t want to do this, then at least attend a one-day workshop at your local photo store, many offer them for free.

What Macro lens is best for the Canon EOS 50D?

Monday Mar 22, 2010

I have had my first DSLR camera for about a year now, tinkered around and have decided I would really love to try out a Macro lens. I am really green when it comes to buying a lens, in fact, this will be my first upgrade. I don’t want to break the bank, but don’t want to skimp and lose sharp image quality either.

I would love to use this lens for nature shots as well as dramatic portraits.

Any pointers, suggestions welcome. Thank you!

Cameta has this macro lens on sale for 200 bucks off. This macro lens has some really good potential but remember the lens can only do so much, its up to you to create those dramatic shots.

Canon eos 50d, what do you all think about the kit ?

Monday Mar 15, 2010

Canon eos 50d, what do you all think about the kit that comes with the 18 – 200 mm image stabilization lens ? Is that a good lens ? I hear that alot of kit lenses aren’t good at all. The sales person was telling me that it is a very good lens, i just don’t know if he was talking bullsh*t. I would really like to hear from YOU ALL. Thanks, have a great day.

Here is the review of the lens: http://www.dpreview.com/lensreviews/canon_18-200_3p5-5p6_is_c16/

Zoom lenses are made with compromises at the extreme ends of the zoom range. The bigger the zoom range, the more (usually) image quality a lens has to sacrifice at both the wide and telephoto end. This especially applies to big superzoom lenses such as the 18-200mm. However, image quality may not be discernable to the average consumers, any decrease in image quality is only seen in very large prints.

Of course the sales person will tell you to buy the kit. That’s his job. Your job is to be well informed when buying.

What does the "0.20X" mean in the description of a fisheye lens? 10 POINTS BEST ANSWER!!?

Monday Mar 8, 2010

I am looking at buying a cheap fisheye lens adapter to take skiing with me and realized that in the description of the lens it states "0.20X Professional Super AF…" I have no idea what the .20X means. Does it only pertain to fisheye lenses? Here is the full ttitle "Opteka HD² 0.20X Professional Super AF Fisheye Lens for Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT, XTi, XS, XSi, T1i, 1D, 5D, 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D Digital SLR".

this is the link if it helps: http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-0-20X-Professional-Fisheye-Digital/dp/B001K5R38Q/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

thanks and remember 10 POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

put the X on the other side… x 0.2, and put your lens in front of it.. 18mm x0.2, and your answer is 3.6mm. The adapter will multiply the focal length of the lens you put it on by 0.2.

The 1st post has it backwards, a larger number does not increase the effect, just the opposite.

whats a better deal?
